Quick Update
Just got home from Rukus Fighting Academy...http://rukusfa.net/ Wow! this is a gym to watch...there is an unbelievable amount of young talent in the is gym : multiple Judo Black-Belts, High Level Wrestlers and solid Jiu-Jitsu guys...I've been having a blast there helping out camp for Luis Felix and Devin P. (who I've been working very closely with) Tonight was another great night of work with both guys feeling real strong and looking sharp technique-wise. Sounds like we'll be taking a road trip to AMA in New Jersey in a few weeks- so there will definitely some posts about that coming up. AMA is full of MMA monsters- so I'm super excited for the trip!

Studio Is Up And Running!
The green screen, lights and mats are all here! The text is done for Technique #1: "Counter The Rolling Knee Bar" Yay! Title #1 will be out very soon!!! 
NEWS!
1. Our new studio equipment has started to arrive! Our lighting and backdrop are here and will be set up later today with any luck! The studio it self needs a little sprucing up first but we are getting on that shortly. I'll post a pic. once we get a little more set up. 2. I had a great training session with Devin in preparation for his fight at the AFO Halloween Havoc show on September 29th. Devin will be well versed in our style of MMA specific grappling come fight time. Turns out this is a bit of a grudge match as well...maybe more on that to come. That's all for now...with 2 fight camps, running the gym (ISG), building a photo studio etc.. life certainly is busy, BUT: I will continue to post the COOLEST BJJ, Sambo and Judo videos I can find! Thank for reading-now go roll!

A Few Quick Updates
We started the fight camp for the CES fights on October 6th, the pro MMA debut of former WWE champ Bautista! I've been called into help Louis Felix as he gets ready to fight none other than: Dan Lauzon! I have been brought in to help Louis with defending Heel-hooks and Triangle Chokes... the Lauzon trademark submissions. I am also working with another fighter, Devin Pinkleton, as he gets ready for the AFO show on September 29th, when he makes his Pro debut. I am real excited to be working with my friends at Rukus Fighting Academy..they have grown into a phenomenal gym. I have never seen a gym with so much raw talent!Keep your eyes on these guys, they are a team of the future. So about our Book project: on Monday while I was at the gym I showed the Kneebar defense into the Howdy Choke that will be our first I-Book.. and it went over awesome with all the guys in the gym surrounding me asking to show it again! So I am extra excited to get this first technique instructional done! Our new photo equipment is on the way too! So stay tuned- and thanks for reading our Blog! Gregrooski

Kimura Trap
Seems this is taking off fast! I think the lesson is this: everyone wants to learn more and more techniques but many times the basics are much more versatile than you might realize and that the more time you spend with each technique the more and more uses you'll find for it- until it is almost a system unto itself! I know that's how I feel about the straight armbar!

New Photo Studio (And More Free Techniques!)
So excited...our new photo studio is being set up! Our space is all set and ready for its new equipment. When we said professionally produced photos and text we meant it! Our studio is flooded with natural light, professional 2400 watt light boxes and a green back drop, so that the only thing you will see in the photos is the technique being performed: absent of any distracting background or shadows (it will appear pure white in the background) and on brand new mats (Yay!) I'm so excited about the new studio that we decided to produce more free techniques too! The first FIVE volumes will be free! More free instructionals, GIANT SMILE! Look for these to start being released in the early fall. We are still working on the text for volume 1 and expect it to be done by mid-September. In the meantime we will continue to scour the web for the best technique videos around, and continue to showcase product from our affiliate partner: Budovideos.com. We also have a "Meet The ISP Team" post coming soon:) which will showcase our unique backgrounds that make ISP so special. We also have some guys competing in a tournament today so we'll probably have some cool podium photos coming as well! Galvao Counters A Common Deep Half Sweep With A Leg In Triangle
Ok I love Deep half Guard, and I use this sweep a lot...especially against wrestlers but I have to admit I never considered that it could be countered with a triangle. Leave it to Andre Galvao to not only counter it but do so with a completely new position/submission! I Know I've never seen this before!

The Rolling Shoulder Lock
So that cool rolling shoulder lock I posted from the 2011 Sambo worlds..here is a video break down of how to do it. Another good resource for this technique is Igor Kurrinoy- who has used it quite effectively in Sambo competitions for a long time. I think we'll have some Igor Videos up soon:)

Bautista and MMA
Ok so I'm not a wrestling fan (fake wrestling anyway) but it IS big news when a former WWE champ steps in the cage for real. Even better when it is in your back yard..and STILL even better when you are enlisted to help prepare some of the fighters on the card! It looks like I'll be doing my thing with the shows opener, who is fighting the very talented Andre Soukhmathath at 135. The fight has just been signed but the announcement hasn't been made on the CES website yet so names will have to wait. Even better, this will be On-Demand pay-per-view at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence RI. So we should get a good bit of exposure. I'll keep you guys posted as the preparations begin. Title #1 Counter The Rolling Knee Bar
Title # 1 is ALMOST Ready! At 23 pages long, it details a very effective counter to the rolling knee bar from the guard that give you two finishing options- a knee bar of your own or a variation of the "Howdy Choke" The text is being edited now- very excited! Marcello Teaching After Class
How great is Marcello...he's shaved Chuck Norris' beard with his guillotine choke- that doesn't even make sense...but that's how awesome he is. Not only is he one of the most efficient grapplers EVER (he may be the MOST efficient) he is also a great instructor...what an inspiration!

A Sneak Peak At The Web-Site
Ok so the new web-site is under construction! Yay! It has been a real challenge so far....mainly due to issues I can't control....BUT it is gonna look great! I can tell already- even though there are small issues to fix with some of the text and art-I am super pumped! I am gonna give you guys a sneak peak at http://ipadbjjbooks.ash.com so you can get a feel for it. NOW: I know what your saying "there's no books up yet!" well be patient grasshopper- they are on the Way! Each book (each one about 21 pages long with super detailed photos and text of singular techniques) will have a preview and a buy/download now button. The books take some time to produce but they will be well worth the wait! Think of it it this way....Everyone loves instructional Jiu-Jitsu books but they are EXPENSIVE and many times only have a few techniques that are new to you (or even if it's all new they are still EXPENSIVE!) But books are great resources to bring to class and also great if you are an instructor..it is very easy to gloss over the fine details the fifth or sixth time you teach something...so having a resource near by is super handy right? But who has a library on the mats? Now imagine that you could pick and choose which techniques you wanted to buy (most for only $.99) and create your own book on your own budget and even look up new techniques right in class...all on your I-pad, no thumbing through dog-eared pages, just pick the title and increase your grappling knowledge with a swipe of your finger! As an instructor I know how awesome that could be! Well now it is possible! So We now own the domain www.igrapplebooks.com (I-grapple/I-Pad books...get it.) which will be live in the next few days and be constantly updated. The first books are still about a month away...so stay tuned!
